The wines of Bordeaux’s Saint-Julien, a region often overshadowed by its famous neighbors, are known for their elegance, purity, and long-term aging capability. Home to the renowned Châteaux Ducru-Beaucaillou and Léoville las Cases, this appellation is deserving of collector’s attention, and HDH Retail just added some top wines from this appellation to our inventory.
The wines of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou are known to be balanced, powerful, and ripe, with the potential to age for decades. Lisa Perrotti-Brown of the Wine Advocate awarded the 2016 Ducru-Beaucaillou 98+ points, noting that it has “layer upon layer of black fruit preserves and spicy nuances…finishing with epic length and depth.”
The Château Léoville las Cases estate dates back to the 17th century, and eventually split into three separate estates, including Châteaux Léoville Barton and Léoville-Poyferre. Antonio Galloni called the 2005 vintage of Léoville Las Cases powerful but also “remarkably nuanced and translucent for a wine of its sheer size.”
Now is the time to add these incredible wines from Saint-Julien to your collection, and be sure to browse through our entire inventory of recently added Bordeaux.
